LAS CRUCES, N.M. - This morning, Head Coach Jason Hooten announced the addition of veteran guard Elijah Elliott, who will join the Aggies for the 2025-26 season. Elliott transfers in from Southern Illinois, adding high-level scoring and backcourt versatility to NM State's roster.

Elliott arrives in Las Cruces after a short but explosive season with the Salukis. Prior to suffering a season-ending ACL injury against eventual national champion Florida, Elliott averaged 14.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.0 steal in five games (four starts). His top outings included a 23-point, three-steal performance against Charleston shooting 9-14 from the field and a 21-point effort at Oklahoma State where he knocked down five triples on 5-9 shooting from deep.

PRIOR TO SIU
In 2023-24, Elliott led UTRGV in scoring with 16.6 points per game while adding 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.6 steals. He tallied double-digit scoring efforts in 27 contests, including nine games of 20 or more points. His season was highlighted by a 40-point outburst on the road at Stephen F. Austin.

Elliott began his collegiate journey at Oklahoma Christian where he earned All-Lone Star Conference Third Team and LSC All-Freshman honors, averaging 15.5 points, 4.4 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals in 18 starts. He also spent time at Mount Saint Mary's, appearing in 17 games off the bench.

In 2022-23, Elliott was named an NJCAA Division I All-American after producing 16.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.2 steals per game while shooting over 42% from the field for Paris Junior College.

HIGH SCHOOL ROOTS
A product of Jack Yates High School in Houston, Elliott helped guide the Lions to a 26-3 record and a UIL 4A State semifinal appearance in a senior season shortened by COVID-19. That year, he averaged 16.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 4.3 steals, earning All-District 23-4A honors and a spot on the UIL 4A Regional III All-Tournament Team. His squad also set a national record by scoring 100+ points in 21 straight games.

QUOTABLE | Head Coach Jason Hooten

"My relationship with Elijah dates back to his junior year of high school, and it's been incredible to witness his growth both on and off the court. He brings exceptional speed, quickness, and a natural ability to score the basketball. Elijah has the heart of a giant and takes real pride in guarding the ball with intensity. We're thrilled to have him join our program—his leadership and energy will give us a major boost on both ends of the floor.".
