Former Sam Houston guard brings versatility and FIBA experience to Las Cruces.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Today, Head Coach Jason Hooten announced the signing of senior guard Anthony Wrzeszcz, a 6-4 playmaker from Gydina, Poland, who will join the Aggies for the 2025-26 season.

Anthony Wrzeszcz | Sr. | G | 6-4 | Gydina, Poland | Wasatch Academy | McMaster

Wrzeszcz most recently competed for McMaster University in Canada during the 2024-25 season, appearing in 11 games with eight starts. He averaged 10.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game while showcasing his scoring ability in a 24-point effort against Carleton, where he connected on five three-pointers. He also posted a season-high seven assists versus Nipissing and pulled down nine rebounds against Laurentian.

Prior to his stint in Canada, Wrzeszcz played two seasons at Sam Houston with his freshman year being under the leadership of Hooten. As a sophomore in 2023-24, he played in 30 of 33 games and helped the Bearkats capture their first-ever Conference USA regular season championship. He averaged 13.6 minutes per contest and contributed on both ends of the floor—recording 20 steals and committing just 14 turnovers, the fewest among any Sam Houston player with 30 games played and 10+ minutes per game. Offensively, he notched a season-high 11 points twice.

As a freshman during the 2022-23 campaign, Wrzeszcz saw action in 24 games, with a season-best 19-point performance coming against Tarleton State, where he went a perfect 3-3 from long range.

A native of Gydina, Poland, Wrzeszcz has also represented his home country on the international stage. He played for Poland's U20 national team, averaging 11.3 points, 3.7 assists, and 2.1 rebounds per game. In U18 play, he posted averages of 15.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per contest while serving as one of the team's key offensive pieces.

Before entering the collegiate ranks, Wrzeszcz competed for Wasatch Academy, one of the nation's top high school programs, as part of the National Interscholastic Basketball Conference (NIBC). He was selected to participate in the BioSteel All-Canadian Game—an elite event featuring the top 24 high school players across Canada. He also starred for Canada Elite, a top-tier program on the Under Armour Association circuit.

QUOTABLE | Head Coach Jason Hooten

"Anthony played for me during the 2022–23 season and is now heading into his fourth year of college basketball. We're thrilled to welcome him back here at New Mexico State. Anthony is a tremendous culture guy who has always put the team first. Over the years, he's shown impressive growth thanks to his relentless work ethic. Ant will add another strong shooter to our roster and brings a deep understanding of our defensive philosophy. It's always special when a family member comes back home!".
