DALLAS – Conference USA announced its preseason watch list ahead of the 2025 football season on Friday afternoon. The list includes five individuals from each of the conference's 12 member institutions designated by the league's head coaches as key contributors to keep an eye on this season.
The Aggies were represented by two offensive players, two defensive players and one specialist. On the offensive side of the ball, quarterback
Logan Fife was listed alongside returning offensive lineman
BJ Tolo. Defensively, 2024 Second Team All-CUSA honoree
Tyler Martinez earned a spot and is joined by defensive end
Gabe Peterson who returns to Las Cruces for his second stint with the NM State program. Lastly, return specialist
TK King secured the program's lone spot among special teams honorees.
Following a year at Montana,
Logan Fife will lead the Aggie offense amid the squad's second season under the leadership of Head Coach
Tony Sanchez. Last season, Fife made eight starts and finished as the team's leading passer to help the Grizzlies to the second round of the Division I FCS Playoffs.
BJ Tolo will serve as a key member of the group up front tasked with protecting Fife and is coming off a redshirt freshman campaign in which he appeared in all 12 games and made nine starts.
Martinez, a senior from Albuquerque, N.M., makes his return as a leader on the defensive side of the ball. Last season, the former preferred walk-on recorded a team-high 96 total tackles – a mark that was also good for third among CUSA defenders. Leading the charge up front will be
Gabe Peterson who once again dons the Crimson and White after spending the 2024 season with Utah State. In 2023, Peterson played in all 15 games and recorded 55 total tackles and 3.5 sacks to help the Aggies secure their second 10-win season in program history.
Lastly,
TK King makes his debut for the Aggies in 2025 after serving as an explosive return man at Wyoming last season. In 2024, the wide receiver from Houston tallied 15 kickoff returns for 422 total yards and one touchdown on his way to earning First Team All-Mountain West Kick Returner honors.
NM State is set to begin the 2025 slate in Aggie Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 30, when it plays host to Bryant. Kickoff versus the Bulldogs is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT with a live stream of the game available on ESPN+.
