VAIL, Colo. – The NM State women's golf team concluded its run at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic on Wednesday, finishing 16th overall after three rounds at the Fazio Course in Vail, Colo.
The Aggies posted a final-round score of 296 (+8) to mark their lowest of the tournament, bringing their three-day total to 906 (+42). The final round featured 10 birdies for NM State, with sophomore
Sophia Luna leading the charge with a 71 (-1) to represent the best 18-hole score by an Aggie this weekend. Luna's strong finish placed her in a tie for 39th individually.
Rylee Salome and
Alexandria Armendariz each wrapped up the event with matching totals of 228 (+12), tying for 66th. Salome also turned in a quality third round as she shot even par (72) to move 12 spots up the leaderboard.
Emma Thompson followed just one stroke behind Salome and Armendariz with a 229 (+13), while
Marley Moncada posted a 77 (+5) to finish at 241 (+25).
The tournament title went to Southern California, who submitted a final score of 819 (-45), marking a new tournament record. This charge was led by individual co-champions Kylie Chong and Jasmine Koo, who each shot 203 (-13) to the individual tournament record set by UCLA's Mariel Galdiano in 2018.

NM State will now shift its focus to the highly anticipated NB3 Match Play event, which is scheduled to take place at Twin Warriors Golf Course in Santa Ana Pueblo, N.M., on Oct. 7-8. The event which will air live on Golf Channel will feature the Aggies playing alongside Arizona, Texas A&M and New Mexico.
