CORINTH, Texas – The NM State women's golf team officially opened the 2025-26 season on Monday as they teed off at the Sam Golden Invitational hosted by North Texas. Following 36 holes of action, the Aggies find themselves in 12
th place among a very deep field of 13.
The Aggies got off to an up and down start in the opening round, but were able to bounce back by shooting a 285 (-3) in the second round to come in for the day with a combined score of 572 (-1).
Individually, the Aggies were paced by veteran
Emma Bunch and
Rylee Salome, who competed in the first college event of her young career. The pair of Aggies each finished the day at 2-under with Bunch posting rounds of 72 and 70, while Salome opened the day with a 69 before producing a 73 in the afternoon.
Senior
Marley Moncada fueled the charge for the Aggies in the second round as she submitted a team-best 69 (-3) to conclude the day.
Sophia Luna started her Aggie career on Monday and ended the day in a tie for 60
th.
Alexandria Armendariz rounded out the group and sits at 8-over after 36 holes. The Aggies will open the final round of play at 8 a.m. MT on Tuesday morning.
