NM State 4, UC Riverside 1
NM State wrapped up play at the UNLV Quad on Saturday morning with a 4-1 victory over UC Riverside at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. With the win, the Aggies closed the weekend with a 2-1 record at the quad, highlighted by a 5-2 win over Weber State on Friday.
The Aggies jumped out to an early lead by securing the doubles point in dominant fashion. Roko Stipetic and Tobias Wallin earned a convincing 6-1 victory on court one, while Holland Snell and Lance Urlaub followed with a 6-0 win on court two to clinch the opening point and give NM State a 1-0 advantage.
NM State carried its momentum into singles play, picking up three straight-set victories to secure the match. Lance Urlaub delivered a strong performance on court three, defeating Owen Pearson, 6-2, 6-1, before Laurendi Fischer added a point on court six with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Jovan Pedroza.
The match-clinching point came on court five, where Matias Rojas battled past Noris Nedelcovici in straight sets, earning a 7-6, 6-1 win to seal the Aggies' fourth point of the morning.
A few singles matches were left unfinished once the match was decided, including Holland Snell holding a lead on court one and Tobias Wallin splitting sets on court four.
UP NEXT
NM State will have some time to prepare for their next match as they will take on Texas Tech on Feb. 7 in Lubbock, Texas.
