Aggies Split Weekend Matches in Lubbock

Roko Stipetic clinched 4-3 win over UTRGV for NM State.

LUBBOCK, Texas – NM State wrapped up its weekend in Lubbock with a 1-1 record after competing at the McLeod Tennis Center. The Aggies opened the trip with a 4-1 loss to Texas Tech yesterday before responding with a hard-fought 4-3 victory over UTRGV on Saturday.

MATCH ONE | NM State 1, Texas Tech 4
NM State began the weekend against Texas Tech and found itself trailing early after dropping the doubles point. The Red Raiders secured wins on courts three and one to take a 1-0 advantage heading into singles play.

In singles action, the Aggies continued to battle across the lineup, but Texas Tech clinched the match with straight-set victories at the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 positions. Several courts remained unfinished as the Red Raiders reached the four-point threshold, including competitive efforts from Tobias Wallin, Lance Urlaub and Laurendi Fischer before the dual was decided.

MATCH TWO | NM State 4, UTRGV 3
NM State bounced back on Saturday with a dramatic 4-3 win over UTRGV in a tightly contested dual that came down to the final courts.

The Aggies set the tone early by capturing the doubles point with wins at the top two positions. Holland Snell and Lance Urlaub earned a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Roko Stipetic and Tobias Wallin followed with a 6-4 win on court two to give NM State the early edge.

Singles play turned into a back-and-forth battle, with both teams trading points throughout the lineup. Snell delivered a key three-set victory at No. 1 singles, while Urlaub provided a steady presence with a straight-set win at the No. 4 position. Stipetic added another crucial point at No. 2 singles in a three-set battle, helping the Aggies secure the fourth and deciding point to seal the 4-3 victory.
