NM State 3, Idaho 4
NM State put together a gritty showing today but ultimately came up just short in a 4-3 decision against Idaho at the Student Tennis Center, closing out its trip to Oregon.
The Aggies found themselves trailing after doubles play, as Idaho secured wins on courts one and three to claim the opening point. Anna Pinaieva and Whitney Moon battled at the No. 1 position but fell 6-4, while the No. 3 pairing of Nadia Nemeth and Anna Klimova also dropped a 6-4 result. The No. 2 doubles match featuring Montana Parkinson-Lubold and Dora Kurdi was left unfinished, knotted at 5-5.
NM State responded with resilience in singles, earning three victories to keep the match tightly contested. Pinaieva delivered a strong performance at No. 2 singles, rallying for a straight-set win to get the Aggies on the board. Whitney Moon followed with an impressive comeback at the No. 3 spot, bouncing back after dropping the opening set to win in three and even the match score.
Parkinson-Lubold added another key point for the Aggies at No. 4 singles, overcoming an early deficit to secure a three-set victory and keep NM State within striking distance late into the match.
Despite the comeback effort, Idaho was able to clinch the final point in a deciding third set at the No. 6 position. Nadia Nemeth competed at No. 1 singles, while Emma Petton and Anna Klimova rounded out singles play for NM State in competitive matches across the lineup.
