NM State 1, Air Force 4
NM State faced a challenging test this morning, falling 4-1 to Air Force at the NAU Tennis Center in Flagstaff, Ariz.
The Aggies were unable to secure the opening point in doubles play, as Air Force claimed victories on courts two and three. Montana Parkinson-Lubold and Dora Kurdi fell 6-3 at the No. 2 position, while the No. 3 pairing of Nadia Nemeth and Anna Klimova battled in a tightly contested match before dropping a 7-6 decision. The No. 1 doubles match featuring Anna Pinaieva and Whitney Moon was left unfinished with NM State holding a 6-4 advantage.
Air Force carried momentum into singles play, winning three of the first four completed matches to clinch the contest. Emma Petton battled at the No. 5 spot but fell in straight sets, while Montana Parkinson-Lubold and Nadia Nemeth also competed in tough straight-set matches at the No. 4 and No. 1 positions, respectively.
NM State earned its lone point of the day at the No. 6 singles position, where Anna Klimova delivered a strong performance to secure a straight-set victory, putting the Aggies on the board. Anna Pinaieva and Whitney Moon were both competing in closely contested matches at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots before their matches went unfinished following the clinch.
Despite the result, the Aggies showed resilience throughout the lineup while competing on the road against a disciplined Air Force squad.
