LAS CRUCES, N.M. – On Tuesday, NM State Softball released its 2026 schedule. The Aggies are set to play 51 games in the regular season, with 28 coming at home. During their third campaign as members of Conference USA, the Crimson & White will compete in a 27-game league slate to earn a spot in the eight-team CUSA Championship from May 6-9.
The Aggies will open their spring campaign with back-to-back weekends at home, playing 12 games across Feb. 6-15. The NM State Invitational will feature matchups against UMass Lowell, UT Arlington, St. Thomas and Utah Valley. The following weekend, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Montana and Idaho State are slated to roll in for the 36
th annual Troy Cox Classic.
Over the final two weekends of non-conference play,
Benet Higgs' bunch will trek to Arizona State (Feb. 20-22) and UTSA (Feb. 27-March 1). In addition to the hosting Sun Devils and Roadrunners, NM State is set to face Michigan, Southern Utah, Saint Francis, UT Arlington and North Dakota.
The Aggies' 27-game conference slate opens in the Land of Enchantment, with LA Tech rolling into town (March 6-8). Two days later, New Mexico visits Las Cruces for the first installment in the Battle of I-25. After visiting Sam Houston that weekend, the squad will then head to Albuquerque on March 17 for the final 2026 edition of the rivalry.
Over the ensuing two weekends, NM State will stay home for six games against FIU and WKU. After trekking to Jax State, the squad will return home for the Battle of I-10. The Miners are set to visit Las Cruces for the final rivalry series as members of CUSA across April 10-12.
The Aggies' penultimate road trip will be to Murfreesboro, Tenn., as they take on the Blue Raiders (April 17-19). Senior Weekend will then be held against Delaware, with the final home bout of 2026 taking place on Sunday, April 26.
From there,
Benet Higgs and company will head east for a three-game set at Missouri State to wrap up the regular season. If NM State finishes among the top eight in the CUSA standings, it will then head to Newark, Del. The league tournament is slated to begin on Wednesday, May 6, ending Regionals on Saturday, May 9, with one team clinching an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.
