WACO, Texas – On Saturday afternoon, NM State wrapped up its weekend at Baylor Ballpark, falling 7-3 after an early deficit and a late three‑run surge by the Bears proved too much to overcome. The Aggies tallied three runs over the second and third innings but were unable to put anything more on the board the rest of the way.
After Baylor plated three in the first, NM State responded immediately in the second.
Aidan Taclas and
Easton Rulli opened the frame with back‑to‑back singles before
Chris Daniels delivered an RBI single down the right‑field line.
Camden Kaufman added a sacrifice fly to bring home Rulli and cut the deficit to 3-2.
The Aggies tied it in the third when
Boston Vest singled and later scored on Taclas' sacrifice fly to center field, making it a 3-3 game. In his first start of the season,
Connor Wylde turned in four innings on the mound, allowing just one earned run, before
Jack Turner worked the middle frames in relief. Baylor, however, reclaimed the lead with a run in the sixth and tacked on three more in the seventh to create the final margin.
- Eight Aggies tallied one hit each, marking NM State's most balanced offensive output of the opening weekend.
- Connor Wylde allowed just one earned run across four innings in his season debut.
- JT Price struck out three batters in a scoreless inning, his first appearance as an Aggie.
- Aidan Taclas continued his strong weekend, contributing both a run scored and an RBI via sacrifice fly.
