LAS CRUCES, N.M. – NM State exploded for nine runs in the first inning and never looked back on Tuesday at Presley Askew Field at Johnson Stadium, rolling to a 19-7 win over Southwest. The Aggies tallied 15 hits and scored in six different innings, posting their highest run total since 2024.
The opening frame set the tone as NM State sent 12 batters to the plate.
Bryce Campbell,
Chris Daniels and
Cole Rogers each delivered early RBIs before
Brandon Clizbe and
Aidan Taclas capped the outburst with a three-run home run and a two-run home run, respectively, to give the Aggies an early 9-0 advantage.
After Southwest struck for four in the third, the Aggies countered with two more in the fourth behind an RBI groundout from Meluskey and an RBI single from Clough. NM State added two in the sixth on Clough's two‑run homer, three more in the seventh highlighted by a two‑RBI single from Rogers, and two in the eighth to stretch the margin to 19–6.
