Aggies Outlast Bulldogs at Home

Wylde tosses four innings to collect fourth win of the season.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – NM State used a pair of four‑run frames and strong pitching from Connor Wylde and Jack Turner to take down LA Tech 13-10 on Saturday at Presley Askew Field at Johnson Stadium, evening the weekend Conference USA series. With the win, the Aggies improved to 10-12 and 2-4 in league play, while LA Tech dropped to 15-9 and 4-1 in CUSA action.

After LA Tech opened with a three‑run home run, the Aggies answered immediately with four runs in the first, highlighted by Boston Vest's two‑RBI single and an RBI knock from Bryce Campbell. NM State added four more in the second behind Aidan Taclas' two‑RBI double, a Tommy Meluskey RBI single and Vest's RBI groundout to take an 8-4 lead.

The Bulldogs cut into the margin, but NM State responded again in the third when Jonatan Clough singled, Brandon Clizbe doubled, and Steve Solorzano drove in a run as part of a two‑run inning. The Aggies stretched it to 13-8 in the sixth with RBIs from Clough and Solorzano.

On the mound, Connor Wylde steadied the game with four innings on the mound in which he allowed just two runs and tallied six strikeouts. Meanwhile, Jack Turner earned a three‑inning save, allowing just one earned run to close things out.

Clough led the offense with four hits, Solorzano went 3‑for‑4 with two RBI, and Taclas, Meluskey, Vest, Daniels and Campbell all contributed run‑producing swings as NM State earned its first home win over a conference foe this season.
