Aggies Go 2-1 During Westcoast Weekend Slate

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — NM State wrapped up a busy weekend of competition with a 2-1 record across three matches, earning victories over Utah Tech and Seattle U before falling to UNLV on Sunday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. 

NM State opened the stretch on Thursday with a strong road performance before carrying that momentum into a dominant showing against Seattle U. The Aggies closed the weekend against host UNLV in Las Vegas. Several players turned in strong individual efforts across the three matches, including Nadia Nemeth, Montana Parkinson-Lubold and Emma Petton, who all delivered key performances throughout the weekend. 

NM State 4, Utah Tech 2 

The Aggies began the week by earning a 4-2 road victory over Utah Tech at the Trailblazer Tennis Courts. NM State took control early by sweeping all three doubles matches to secure the opening point. 

Anna Pinaieva and Nadia Nemeth led the way at the top doubles position with a 6-2 victory, while Anna Klimova and Montana Parkinson-Lubold matched that score at No. 2 doubles. Dora Kurdi and Whitney Moon completed the sweep with another 6-2 win at the third position to give the Aggies an early advantage. 

In singles play, Montana Parkinson-Lubold produced a strong performance at No. 2 singles, defeating A. Gutierrez Sampere in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Nadia Nemeth added another point with a convincing 6-3, 6-1 victory at the No. 5 position. The match-clinching point came from Mariella Gelbke, who rallied after dropping the first set to defeat Nicole Kells 0-6, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6 singles. 

NM State 4, Seattle U 0 

The Aggies carried their momentum into Saturday's matchup with Seattle U, securing a commanding 4-0 sweep at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. 

NM State once again claimed the doubles point behind strong play from Anna Pinaieva and Nadia Nemeth, who earned a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles. Anna Klimova and Montana Parkinson-Lubold followed with a hard-fought 7-5 victory at the No. 2 spot to secure the opening point for the Aggies. 

In singles action, Anna Pinaieva delivered a decisive 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles to extend the Aggies' lead. Emma Petton followed with a dominant 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles. Nadia Nemeth closed out the match for NM State with another strong showing, defeating Amina Avdic 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 6 position. 

NM State 0, UNLV 4 

NM State wrapped up the weekend with a matchup against host UNLV but fell 4-0 on Sunday afternoon. 

The Aggies found success at the No. 3 doubles position where Dora Kurdi and Whitney Moon earned a 6-2 victory. However, the Rebels secured the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. 

Several singles matches were competitive before UNLV clinched the team result. Montana Parkinson-Lubold held a first-set advantage in her match before play was halted, while Emma Petton and Anna Klimova were also battling in tightly contested matches when the Rebels secured the final point.

NM State will return to action on March 17 when the Aggies travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn., for an early week Conference USA showdown against Middle Tennessee.
