Horno and Delgadillo finish tournament under par.

MARICOPA, Ariz. – The NM State men's golf team concluded play at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in Maricopa, Ariz. on Wednesday afternoon. The Aggies placed 14th in the 25-team field at the two-day event hosted by Wyoming at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club. This serves as the Aggies' penultimate tournament of the 2025-26 campaign.

The team title was claimed by No. 28 Southern California who edged out #46 Arkansas State by one stroke. Meanwhile, the individual crown went to Arkansas State's Thomas Schmidt, who shot 13-under to clear the field by two strokes.

The Aggie men were led by the duo of Javier Delgadillo and Kostka Horno, who each finished 1-under for the week and placed in the tie for 33rd out of 127 players. Delgadillo got out to a hot start, shooting a 68 (-4) in the opening round before closing things out with a 73 (+1) and a 74 (+2) in the final two rounds. Horno maintained steady play throughout the tournament, shooting a 71 (-1) in rounds one and two and finished the week with a 73 (+1).

Mateo Payán finished tied for 72nd after submitting rounds of 70, 77 and a 74. Meanwhile, Ethan Klose came in just four strokes back of Payán with a 54-hole score of 225 (+9) to claim a tie for 92nd.

NOTABLES
  • The tie for 33rd marked Kostka Horno's best finish of the season and marked the first time this year he concluded a tournament under par. This is also the second-best finish of his career, only behind a T23 finish at the Herb Wimberly Memorial as a freshman last year.
  • Javier Delgadillo finished in the red for the fourth time this season and has now come in under par in three of his last five events.
  • As a team, the Aggies posted an average of 4.03 on the course's par 4s for the week. This was good for fifth among all teams.
  • NM State also turned in the second-most pars of any program this week with 176, finishing just two off South Florida for the most.
