NM State 3, Lubbock Christian 4
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – NM State came up just short in its regular season finale this afternoon, falling 4-3 to Lubbock Christian at the NM State Tennis Center.
The Aggies came out strong in doubles play, sweeping all three courts to secure the opening point and take an early 1-0 advantage. Holland Snell and Lance Urlaub earned a 6-4 win on court one, while the duo of Roko Stipetic and Tobias Wallin followed with a 6-3 victory on court two. Laurendi Fischer and Patrick Lohmann capped off the sweep with a 6-3 win on court three.
In singles action, Lubbock Christian responded by taking four of the six matches to clinch the team victory. Tobias Wallin fell on court one in straight sets, while Roko Stipetic dropped a tightly contested match on court three. Patrick Lohmann also pushed to three sets on court six but came up short.
Despite the loss, NM State picked up a pair of strong singles wins. Holland Snell delivered a dominant straight-set victory on court two, while Lance Urlaub secured another point for the Aggies with a straight-set win on court five.
With the match coming down to the wire, the final result was decided on court four, where Matias Rojas battled into a third set but was unable to hold off his opponent as Lubbock Christian secured the 4-3 victory.
UP NEXT
With the Aggies finishing up their final regular season match today, they now put all of their focus on the CUSA Tournament that will start on April 17 in Murfreesboro, Tenn., being held at Middle Tennessee State University.
