LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Following a big day in which he led the Aggie defense in a win on Saturday, NM State safety
Nick Session has garnered Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week honors, the league announced on Monday morning.
Session immediately set the tone in the Aggies' home opener as he intercepted a pass on the first play of the game and returned it 26 yards to the end zone to give the Crimson and White an early lead.
The native of Gardena, Calif., also led the Aggies in total tackles with seven and ranked tied for fifth in the conference in tackles during Week 1 action. Session was one of just two CUSA players with a pick-six over the weekend.
With his interception against Mercyhurst on Saturday, Session now has an interception in two straight games to begin the 2026 campaign. He is also one of just seven players at the FBS level with multiple interceptions this season. This also gives the Aggie defense a forced turnover in 18 consecutive games, dating back to the 2024 season.
