2014 (JUNIOR): Played in 92 sets for the Aggies in 2014… Earned second team All-WAC honors… Amassed 171 kills and finished the season with a .286 attacking percentage… Tallied 141 assists, while garnering 1.53 assists per set… Was fourth on the team in total blocks with 46.0, including seven solo and 39 assisted… Collected 75 digs and seven serving aces… Led the team during the conference schedule with a .350 hitting percentage, 119 kills and a 2.16 kills per set average… Had six matches with double-digit kill figures… Recorded a season-high 12 kills in both matches against Utah Valley… Tallied a season-high 24 assists and 12 digs in a 2-3 loss to California… Collected nine kills on 13 attacking attempts (.692 attacking percentage) in a three-set victory against Texas-Pan American.
2013 (SOPHOMORE): Played in 52 sets … Posted 25 kills on the season … Tallied five assists to go along with one ace … Tallied 17 digs and nine block assists ... More than half of Castellanos playing time came outside of conference play …. One of her most productive matches of the year came against UC-Santa Barbara (Aug. 31) when she tallied six kills on nine swings for a season-high .667 hitting percentage … Played well at Chicago State (Oct. 10) posting three kills on four attempts and also had one assist and one dig.
2012 (FRESHMAN): Castellanos played in 80 of 124 sets for NM State as a true freshman ... She finished the season ranked sixth on the team with 108 total kills and 127 total points … Her 1.35 kills/set placed Castellanos fifth on the Aggie squad while her .195 hitting percentage also placed her sixth … Had a personal season-high nine kills in El Paso against I-10 rival UTEP (Sept. 26) … Finished the season with 39 total digs and 32 total blocks.
Play improved throughout the season, including in WAC play where she had 69 kills and a .216 hitting percentage, good for third-best hitting percentage on the team during conference play … Had a productive WAC tournament where she played in all 10 sets and finished with 16 kills, six digs and five blocks, helping NM State to a WAC Tournament championship.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played four years under coach Al Rosen at Gadsden High School in Anthony, N.M. … She led the Panthers to consecutive district and state titles in 2010 and 2011 … Helped her team to a second-place district finish in 2009 … Was an all-district honoree from 2009-11 … Was an all-state honoree in 2010 and 2011 … Was named New Mexico Gatorade Player of the Year in 2011 … Earned state tournament Most Valuable Player in 2011 ... Also ran track for Gadsden and was a two-time 100 meter hurdles state champion as well as a four-time 100 meter hurdles district champion.
