Biography

2017-18: Helped guide NM State to its 21st NCAA Tournament appearance…led the Aggies to their third WAC regular-season title in four years with 12-2 finish as well as its eighth WAC Tournament title...played in 19-of-34 games as a senior…Had six points on 2-of-2 shooting from three at Chicago State (1/6)…had season-high nine points in win over CSU Bakersfield (2/8)…posted seven points against Chicago State (2/22) at home on a pair of threes.

2016-17: Saw action in 30 games with limited time in his first year with NM State as a walk-on…helped NM State make its 20th NCAA Tournament appearance while helping it win the 2017 WAC Tournament title as well…scored his first-career bucket against Bethune-Cookman (11/20) and finished with eight points, one rebound and two assists…helped will the Aggies over Air Force (11/30) with a career-high 11 points on 3-of-4 shooting – all from downtown in the second half…played a career-high 22 minutes against Battle of I-25 rival New Mexico and tallied six points.

2013-16: Did not compete collegiately…was a practice player for the NM State women’s basketball team.
 
High School: Guided Las Cruces High School to its first state championship in 37 years as a senior…named District 5A Player of the Year after averaging 16.6 points, 50. rebounds, 4.6 assists and 3.7 steals in his final campaign as the floor general for the Bulldawgs…led LCHS to its first of two district titles his junior year, going 8-0 both times…in his three years on varsity, the Bulldawgs went 68-22 and 22-2 in district action.
 
Personal: Son of Robert and Maryester Garza…father is a distinguished member of the Las Cruces City government and recently retired from his post as the city manager…has an older brother, Michael…both parents are New Mexico State University graduates…majoring in biology.
