2020-21 | A mid-year enrollee for the Aggies, was only available from January of 2021 on...Took part in 11 contests, averaging 1.7 points, 1.0 rebounds and 0.4 assists in 5.0 minutes per game...Broke into the Aggies' lineup for the first time during a non-conference victory over neutral site over Western New Mexico (Jan. 25) in which he posted season-highs in minutes (14), points (11), rebounds (three), steals (two), field goals made (four), field goals attempted (seven), free throws made (two) and free throws attempted (three)...Dished out a season-best two assists in a WAC setback at Seattle U (Feb. 12)...Hoisted up a season-high four three-pointers in a WAC victory at Seattle U (Feb. 13).

Prior to NM State | Needing one more semester of prep basketball in order to become an NCAA qualifier heading into the 2020-21 season, Doakes headed to Geneva, Ohio, to suit up for the SPIRE Institute’s post-grad hoops squad...Originally in the class of 2020, Doakes was forced to sit out due to a transfer rule in the state of Texas after he transferred from Pro Vision Academy in Houston, Texas, to Jack Yates High School...While playing for SPIRE Institute’s post-grad team, Doakes helped SPIRE construct an 8-2 record through the fall and winter of 2020...Before heading to the college ranks, Doakes earned All-Sunshine Prep Showdown Second Team honors with SPIRE...A high-level shooter with impressive athleticism, Doakes turned in a 46-point performance in his first game with SPIRE...Prior to his time with SPIRE Institute, Doakes played for Pro-Vision Academy in Houston, Texas, Jacksonville High School and Jacksonville Lighthouse School in his hometown of Jacksonville, Ark...As a prep, Doakes fluctuated between a three-star and a four-star recruit by prep scouting services such as ESPN, 247Sports and Rivals.
