Biography

Junior: Harty played in 52 games for the Aggies in 2009 with 43 starts under his belt.  He tallied 52 hits, with 16 doubles, and 58 RBI.  His 17 home runs was second best on the team and sixth best in the Western Athletic Conference.  He also had a slugging percentage of .617 that put him in the top-10 in the WAC.  Harty tallied a season-high seven at-bats against Chicago State (2/27) picking up and RBI and scoring one run, while the Aggies won 28-2.  Against San Francisco (3/20) Harty came up with a season-high four hits, a season-high three home runs and a season-high nine RBI.  He was one of two Aggies to hit three homers in a game, with the other being Leo Aguirre, and his nine RBI was the best for NM State in a game during the 2009 season.  In an 9-8 loss to Northern Colorado (3/13), Harty tried his best to help his team going 3-for-5 at the dish with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI.  Against conference foe Sacramento State (4/5), he went 2-of-4 with an RBI and a run scored to help his team win 15-5 in eight innings.  He had a 2-for-5 day in Hawai'i (4/25) as the Aggies defeated the Rainbows 16-6 in eight innings.

Junior College: Harty played as catcher and first base for the Skagit Valley College Cardinals. He was named to the first team all-Northern Division team and earned second team honors in the NWAACC conference while with the Cardinals. He led the division in RBI with 40 and was second in home runs with six in the 2007 season. Harty helped his team to a 26-8-1 record, assisting them to a second place finish in the league.

High School: Harty played baseball for Newport High School in Bellevue, Wash. He helped the Knights to a state championship in 2006 with a 22-4 record and third place finishes in district in 2004 and 2005.  In 2006 the Knights were also Kingco 3A, district and regional champions. He made a name for himself by leading the Kingco 3A league in home runs and RBI in 2005-06. He was named first team all-league, first team all-state and team captain in his senior season. Harty was part of the Seattle Mariners Fall Scout Team as a catcher and first baseman in 2005.

Personal: Harty is the son of Patrick and Chris Harty and was born in Bellevue, Washington. He is undecided in his major.
