Junior: Lecount started his Aggie career in 2012
by playing in 57 of NM State's 59 total games, starting in 56 of those
games. He spent time at both first base
and third base during the first three series of the season, but settled in as
the Aggies' permanent third baseman after the seventh game of the season. Lecount started 52 games at third base for NM
State in 2012. He finished with a .907
fielding percentage and his 82 assists were third-best on the Aggie squad.
Lecount's greatest contribution in 2012, however, came at the
plate. During his first season in Las
Cruces, Lecount finished with a .237 batting average and led NM State in home
runs with 12 on the season, the only Aggie player to finish in double-digits in
home runs. The 12 home runs also tied
Lecount for most home runs by a WAC player and placed him in a tie for 53rd
in the nation in home runs. Lecount
matched his 12 home runs by also accumulating 12 doubles on the season. His 46 RBIs were good enough for fifth-best
on the team and placed him in a tie for sixth-best among WAC players. His .464 slugging percentage was also
fourth-best on the team. Lecount did
most of his damage at the friendly confines of Presley Askew Field. He hit 11 of his 12 home runs at home and
also finished with 38 RBIs and a .321 batting average in Las Cruces.
Lecount made an immediate impact on the Aggie baseball team. During the second game of the season, versus
Wake Forest (Feb. 18), Lecount hit his first home run as an Aggie, had a
double, two RBIs and went 3-of-4 at the plate.
The three hits were a season-high and something he would accomplish two
more times during the season. The game
was the first of Lecount's 13 multiple-hit games and the first of his 12
multiple-RBI games on the season.
Lecount also had two games in which he hit two home runs. The first came on Mar. 11 against Kent State
when Lecount once again had three hits, including the two home runs and a
double, and finished with five RBIs. But
perhaps his best game of the season came in the home finale versus Fresno State
(May 12) when Lecount had three hits, two home runs and a staggering six RBIs.
