Junior: Outfielder
Chace Perkins, who was named a third-team Preseason All-American selection by
CollegeBaseballLineup.com (formerly Ping!Baseball News), played in 57 games for the
Aggies during the 2010 season. Perkins posted a .363 batting average with 70
hits on the year and had a total of 55 runs and five stolen bases. Perkins also
had the most homeruns on the team with 17. Perkins played mainly as an outfielder,
however was one of the top hitters for the Aggies. He had a season-high of four
runs scored and three homeruns against Saint Joseph's (3/6).
Sophmore: Perkins
played in 42 games for NM State in 2009, mainly coming off the bench as a
defensive replacement. He finished the year with a .289 batting average,
while picking up 14 walks and four RBI. Against UT-Brownsville (3/24),
Perkins was 2-of-4 at the dish with a run scored and two RBI as the Aggies won
21-1 in seven innings. He got the start against Hawai'i (4/25) and went
2-of-4 with a double and a run scored, but NM State fell 12-10. In the
first game of the conference tournament, Perkins came in off the bench going
1-for-1 with a run scored to help the Aggies beat Fresno State (5/21) 7-4.
Junior College: Perkins
played as an outfielder for Lassen Community College in Susanville, Calif. for
one season before joining the Aggies. With a .358 batting average, Perkins
helped lead Lassen to a second place finish in their league. The team went on
to play in the first round of the state tournament.
High School:
Perkins attended North Valleys High School in Reno, Nev. where he played
baseball and football for the Panthers. Perkins was named second team
all-league as a second baseman and had an average of .290 in 2006. The next
year, he was named first team all-league as a pitcher and second team all-state
utility player. As a senior in 2007, Perkins held a 2.28 ERA. He was named
second team all-league in football in 2006-07.
Personal: Perkins
is the son of Michael and Michelle Perkins and was born in Reno Nev. He is
majoring in kinesiology.
