NM State head coach Jake Angier added Dillon Leveille as an assistant coach on Monday, July 10, 2023. Leveille came to Las Cruces after spending four seasons as an assistant coach at East Texas Baptist. Leveille enters his second season with the Aggies and oversees the outfielders at NM State and assists in player development. Â
COACHING EXPERIENCE Â
In his first season with the Aggies, Leveille helped develop outfielder Keith Jones II who became the first Aggie since 2007 to earn the triple crown as he paced the squad in batting average (.367), home runs (17) and RBIs (67). This would help Jones II earn First Team All-CUSA honors in the Aggies’ first year in the new conference. Leveille also oversaw Titus Dumitru who garnered Second Team All-CUSA honors.
Leveille has coached at NCAA Division III East Texas Baptist where he spent four seasons under Jared Hood. The 2023 edition of the Tigers finished third in the nation at the NCAA Division III Baseball World Series and finished inside the top ten of various national polls. The tremendous run broke several school records and was the second-best finish in American Southwest Conference history. ETBU shattered the school record with 44 total wins on the season, including 24 in ASC play.
The 2023 Tigers were also honored with the ABCA Region 10 Coaching Staff of the Year for the second time in three seasons. Additionally, Leveille and company were recognized as the ASC Coaching Staff of the Year for the third year in a row.
Dealing heavily with the outfielders, Leveille helped develop Ben Lead into one of the best players at the Division III level. Lea was named as an ABCA First Team All-American, D3Baseball.com First Team All-American, NCAA All-Tournament Team and First Team All-Region by both D3Baseball.com and ABCA. Lea became the first ETBU outfielder since 2016 to be named an All-American as he broke three single-season records (home runs, total bases, runs scored). He also set a new ETBU record when he hit safely in 26 consecutive games. Lea was joined on the All-Region teams by Brett Wagner, who was a Second Team ABCA selection and Third Team nod by D3Baseball.com.
Leveille began his collegiate coaching career at NCAA Division II Cameron University in his home state of Oklahoma. During the 2015 season, Leveille served as a student assistant before returning as a graduate assistant for the 2017 campaign.
The Geronimo, Okla., native graduated from Cameron University in 2015 with his bachelor’s degree before completing his master’s degree at East Texas Baptist in 2021. Â
