2011: Chavez took a red shirt in 2011 during his first year a NM State

2010: Chavez played baseball for the University of Arizona during the 2010 season.  He saw action in 16 games including three starts.  In limited play, Chavez had a couple of RBIs, scored five runs and went 3-3 on stolen base attempts.

Junior College: Chavez played baseball for Central Arizona Community College during the 2009 season.  He helped CACC to a regional championship and a runner-up finish in the Junior College District Championships.  Chavez finished the season with a .393 batting average, 46 runs scored, 19 RBIs and 19 stolen bases.  At the end of the season he was selected to the ACCAC All-Conference team.

High School: Chavez graduated from Desert Ridge High School in Mesa, Ariz., in 2008.  He played baseball for the Jaguars during the 2007 and 2008 seasons.  During his junior year Chavez finished with a .482 batting average and 32 stolen bases.  He was named to the first-team All-Fiesta Region team. Chavez finished his senior year with a .485 batting average and 31 stolen bases.  Desert Ridge was Co-Pima League champs and finished third in the state tournament.  After the season Chavez was named first-team All-Pima Region and second-team All-East Valley Tribune.

Personal: Chavez is the son of Marty and Valerie Chavez.  He was born in Mesa, Ariz., and is working towards a Bachelor in Individualized Studies.  Chavez enjoys hanging out at the baseball fields and hopes to one day become a baseball coach.
