2004 (Senior): After serving as the team's starting third baseman last year, Monjaras will move to shortstop this spring and should hit in the number seven spot.
2003 (Junior): Monjaras started 49 games for the Aggies at third base and one at shortstop last year in his first season with the Aggies.
He finished sixth on the team in batting average (.303) and batted .320 in conference play.
Gavin had a career high three RBI against Western Kentucky (5/2) and Middle Tennessee (3/23). He had a career high four hits against Arkansas-Little Rock (3/30).
He has 16 multiple hit games and seven multiple RBI games last season.
Monjaras was a tough out at home, batting .396 with six home runs, nine doubles and 24 RBI in 30 games.
Gavin hit safely in 31 of 50 games that he played in.
He missed over a week of playing time in mid-April after a thumb injury.
Gavin had a pair of five-game hitting streaks last year. The first came in late March against Middle Tennessee and Arkansas-Little Rock. He went 10 for 21 with seven RBI, six runs scored, three doubles and two home runs.
His second five-game hitting streak also came during league play against Western Kentucky and South Alabama in early May. During that streak he went 8 for 19 with seven RBI, six runs scored, a double and three home runs. He had an RBI in each of those five games.
2001-02 (Freshman-Sophomore): Monjaras hit .437 in 51 games as a sophomore for Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado. He drove in 52 runs and hit eight home runs and was an NJCAA all-region IX pick.
High school: Gavin graduated from East High School in Cheyenne, Wyoming where they did not offer baseball, but he did play American Legion baseball.
Personal: Gavin was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming and is the son of John Monjaras and Gina Wells. He is majoring in Pre Business Administration.
