Biography

Junior College:  Hammons played for the Everett Community College Trojans and played under Coach Levi Lacey.  During his freshman year, Hammons went 1-4 in collegiate debut vs. Yakima Valley College.  He collected two hits vs. Kwantlen Collge, and made collegiate pitching debut against Wenatchee Valley.  He did not allow a run and had tow K’s in 1.1 IP during that game.  At Douglas College he went 2-4 with a double and RBI.  He went 205 with two RBI vs. Pierce College in the Chemeketa Tournament. During a game against Olympic College, he had three singles.  He had two doubles and an RBI vs. Tacoma Community College.  In a game against Edmonds Community College he went 2-2, and picked up his first collegiate victory vs. Bellevue Community College, which advanced ExCC to the NWAACC Tournament.  In addition, Hammons played summer ball with the Everett Merchants where he hit .323 in 20 games with three doubles.  In his sophomore year, Hammons enrolled at the University of Arizona and participated in Fall Ball.  He then transferred back to Everett Community College in October of 2006.   During the 2006 NWAACC Tournament Hammons started two games as a catcher, and hit .333 with two RBI in the tournament.  He had a game winning sacrifice fly vs. Lower Columbia during round one.  In addition, he made a relief appearance in the Third Round game against Mt. Hood.  He also batted .407 during his sophomore season.  Hammons was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 32nd round of the 2005 MLB draft.

 

High School:  Hammons played varsity baseball for four seasons and varsity basketball for two seasons for the Snohomish High School Panthers.  Hammons was named high school team Most Valuable Player for his efforts during his sophomore season.  In 2004 he was named WESCO First Team Pitcher, and played for the Seattle Mariners Fall Scout Team, and was named Perfect Game Show Case.  In his senior year, Hammons was named WESCO First Team Catcher, WESCO Second Team Pitcher, All-Area First Team Catcher, All-Area Honorable Mention Pitcher, First team All-State Catcher, and was again named high school team MVP. Hammons’ career batting average was .374 over four years at Snohomish High School. 

 

Personal:  Hammons is the son of Kim and Sherri Hammons and was born in Everett, Washington.  He is majoring in Physical Education.
