2005 Fall: Jason had a strong fall season for the Aggies as he hit .378 in 45 at-bats. He knocked three balls out of the park and recorded two doubles and a triple in 17 total hits. He also had two stolen bases with an on-base percentage of .472 and hit 10 RBI while scoring 14 runs.
2004 (Junior): Jason comes to NMSU from Louisiana-Lafayette and will play his first season for the Aggies after sitting out the 2005 season due to NCAA transfer rules. He played in 36 games for the Ragin’ Cajuns and started 27 times with 91 appearances at the plate. He blasted three home runs and six doubles while bringing in 16 RBI in 21 hits. On the field, Jason recorded a fielding percentage of .949 with 35 putouts and two assists in 39 chances.
2003: Rodriguez played two years of junior college ball at Central Arizona College where he was a First Team All-Conference pick and his team won the 2003 Regional Championship. In 2002, the Vaqueros won the NJCAA National Championship as Jason hit a walk-off grand slam to win the game for his team. In 2003, he played in 48 games and hit .306 in 147 at-bats with eight doubles, two triples and a homer in 45 total hits. Jason also knocked in 32 RBI and scored 36 runs with a slugging percentage of .408 and stole seven bases with an on-base percentage of .440.
High School: Jason played both baseball and football for three years at Hamilton High School. In 2000 he helped the Huskies to a fourth place finish in the region before being the regional runners-up in 2001. From 1999-2001, he was a three-time First Team All-Region Selection and was a First Team All-State selection in 2001. He was also named team MVP three straight years and played and started in the 5A North/South All-Star Game in 2001. On the football field, Jason helped his team to a three-year record of 28-5 while the Huskies finished eighth in the state as regional runners-up in 1999. In 2000, his team was the Regional Champs and he was named a First Team All-Region pick in 1999 and 2000 as a linebacker as well as a First Team All-State linebacker in 2000. His team also selected him as the defensive MVP in 1999 and 2000.
Personal: Jason was born in Mesa, Ariz. and is the son of Joe and Sandra Rodriguez. He is majoring in sociology.
