Biography

Junior (2007):  Leghorn played in 38 games at catcher for the Aggies and started in 33 of those games.  He finished with a .386 batting average as he came up with 51 hits and 24 RBI.  As a catcher he was second on the team with 200 put-outs.  In the first meeting with I-25 rival New Mexico (2/13), Leghorn was 3-of-4 with a double and a walk although the Aggies fell 11-7.  However, he started a six game hit streak that day.  His longest hit steak of the year was an eight game streak that went from March 18 against Sacramento State and lasted until April 1 against Nevada.  Against Temple (2/25), when the Aggies won 23-5, Leghorn was 3-for-6 with a double and two RBI.  He also produced in a 10-8 victory over Utah Valley State (3/9) when he went 3-of-5 with an RBI.  In a come from behind win over Sacramento State (3/18), Leghorn hit for the cycle.  It was the first time any Aggie as hit for the cycle.  Leghorn hit a single in the first, a home run in the fourth, a double in the sixth and finished it with a triple in the ninth.  In a series at Northern Colorado (2/14-15) he came up with nine hits and four RBI.

 

Junior College: Leghorn helped the Laredo Community College Palominos to an appearance in the state playoffs as a sophomore.  That year Leghorn batted .303 with three home runs and led the conference in RBI.  Leghorn played catcher for the Palominos as a freshman and helped them to a fifth place finish in conference play during a season when he batted .323.  Leghorn also played in the 2005 Texas-New Mexico All-Star game in Baylor, Texas. 

 

High School:  Leghorn played baseball for the Claremont Secondary Spartans as a catcher.  He led the Spartans to a 30-16 record in the 2002-03 season when the Spartans became league champions and provincial champions.  Leghorn was voted provincial MVP in 2000 and 2001.  In 2003 Leghorns batting average was .366 as he hit 20 doubles in 65 games.

 

Personal:  Allan was born in Victoria, British Columbia and is the son of Grant Soutar and Beth Leghorn.  He is majoring in sports marketing.
