Biography

Junior (2006): Vincent was a multi-sport athlete who was also saw extensive time as quarterback for the Aggie football team.  Vincent returned to Aggie baseball for the first time since 2004.  He played in 19 games and started in eight.  Vincent scored 12 times with a batting average of .219.  He against Northern Iowa (3/4) Vincent drew three walks and scored five runs to help the Aggies win and break the school record for most runs scored in one game with 37.  At Texas Tech (4/4) he was strong on offense as he went 3-for-5 with two runs scored.  Vicent scored two more times before seasons end.

 

Sophomore (2004):    Joey played in 24 games in 2004 while starting six contests.  With a batting average of .286, Vincent had 10 hits with seven RBI, 12 runs scored and two doubles.  He also had 24 putouts and one assist in the field and had a .926 fielding percentage.

 

FOOTBALL

Junior (2005): Vincent played in all 12 of the Aggies games and was the starting on several occasions.  He finished second on the team in rushing yards (277), second in passing yards (1,219) and threw six touchdowns while encompassing 1,385 yards of total offense, which was second best on the team.  Against 13th ranked California, Joey threw for 164 yards and rushed for 57 more including on rush for 23 yards.  In a career game against Idaho he threw for a career high 340 yards and three touchdowns while completing 27-43 passes and rushing nine times for 46 yards.  In the final game of the season against Utah State, Joey went 20 for 32 for 214 yards for his second highest passing total of the year.

 

Sophomore (2004):    Vincent was the Aggies third string quarterback and field goal extra point holder in 2004.  Playing in all 11 games.  On the season, Vincent went 5 for 14 in passing with a touchdown, for a total of 139 yards.  Against Florida International, Vincent threw for 62 yards on 2 for 2 passing and a touchdown, while rushing for a season high 15 longest pass of the season, a 63 yard effort to Tim Tolbert against UTEP.

 

Red-shirt Freshman (2003): Vincent played in four games as a red-shirt freshman and played a key role in the Aggies 21-14 win at UL Monroe (10/25).  Vincent entered the game in the second quarter after Buck Pierce was injured.  He led the Aggies on a 16 play, 93 yard drive from the Aggie one yard line to the UL Monroe six yard line.  He converted a trio of third down plays including a 44-yard pass to Chris Duncan on third and 17 from the Aggie 31 yard line.

 

Freshman (2002):      Vincent was a red-shirt his first year at NMSU.

 

High School: Vincent was a first team class 5A All-State Pick as a senior, leading Hamilton High to a 12-2 record and runner-up in the state Class 5A playoffs.  He accounted for 43 touchdowns as a senior.  He rushed for 1,048 yards and 16 touchdowns while averaging 4.2 yards per carry.  He threw for 2,184 yards and 27 scores.  He completed 55.9% of his passes and threw only six interceptions in 279 attempts.  He was a two-year starter.  As a junior he led the huskies to an 11-1 record and advanced to the quarterfinals.  Hamilton was ranked No. 1 in the state all season.  He played in a one back offense that ran the option and threw the ball.

 

Personal: Joey was born in Mesa, Arizona, and is the son of John and Peggy Vincent.  He is majoring in business administration/marketing.
