Prior to NM State: Koerper last played baseball at Division-II Delta State University in Mississippi during the 2012 season. The Statesmen finished that season by winning the Gulf South Conference Championship and the South Region Championship before falling in the Division II National Championship Game. Koerper finished the season with a .349 batting average and two home runs.
Before Delta State, Koerper played two seasons of baseball at El Paso Community College (2010-11). During his time with the Tejanos, he was an Academic All-American and a Texas Junior College All-Star honoree. In 2010, he broke the single-season home run record at EPCC after belting 13 home runs en route to being named the EPCC Player of the Year and team MVP.
High School: Koerper graduated from Onate High School, located in Las Cruces, N.M., in 2007. He played two seasons of baseball for the Knights at first base. During his time at Onate, Koerper was named an all-state first baseman and played in the New Mexico North-South All-Star Game. Upon graduating from Onate in 2007, Koerper embarked on a two-year mission for his church before returning to baseball.
Personal: Koerper was born in Kansas City, Mo., and is the son of Karl and Kelly Koerper. He enjoys writing and singing songs, personal training, camping and snowboarding. Koerper’s younger brother, Joseph, is also on the NM State squad.
