New Mexico State University Athletics

Junior:  Decater played in 37 games for NM State in 2009 and made 18 starts in the outfield.  He finished the year with a .338 batting average, picking up two doubles, five homers, 23 walks and 17 RBI.  Decater tallied at least two hits in eight games and at least two RBI in five games.  He started the conference season with a 2-for-2 day coming off the bench with one walk, two RBI and two runs scored as the Aggies defeated Sacramento State (4/5) 15-5 in eight innings.  When the Aggies defeated Fresno State (4/13) 10-6, Decater had a season-high six at-bats going 2-of-6 with and RBI, two runs scored and a home run.  In a start versus Houston-Baptist (5/2), Decater went 2-of-3 at the plate with a walk, two runs scored, two RBI and a home run, leading the way to a 19-9 victory in eight innings.

Junior College: Decater was an outfielder for Bellevue Community College in Bellevue, Wash. for two seasons. He was part of the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges Championship team in 2007where he was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament. He had the highest average on his team in 2007 hitting nearly .500 during the NWAACC tournament.

High School: Decater attended Skyline High School in Sammamish, Wash. He helped the Spartans to a second place finish at the state tournament in 2006 and a league championship in 2005. Decater was named second team all-Kingco in 2006 and was a three-year letterman at Skyline High.

Personal: Decater is the son of Jim and Cathy Decater and was born in Modesto, Calif. He is majoring in individualized studies.
