Biography

Junior (2007):  McFadden was mainly used as a reliever in 2007, but also saw time at shortstop and third baseman.  He pitched a total of 28 innings and was fourth on the team in strikeouts (26) and appearances (20).  His first start as an infielder came against Temple (2/24) when he had a putout and an assist as the dropped the game 7-4.  However, McFadden hit a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh to lead the New Mexico State baseball team to a 23-5 victory over Temple (2/25).  It was his first grand slam of his career and his fourth home run as an Aggie.  In a 17-8 loss at New Orleans, McFadden went 2 2/3 innings on the mound to come up with four strikeouts, while he gave up two earned runs.  His first start on the hill came at Louisiana Tech (4/6).  There he threw for 1 1/3 innings and stuck out two batters.  In his next appearance, McFadden picked up his first victory of the year while the Aggies defeated Northern Colorado (4/14) 7-6 in 10 innings.    He got his second win of the year in the first game of a double-header against Hawai’i when he came in to pitch for 3 2/3 innings and stuck out three batters as NMSU came from behind to win 8-6.

 

Sophomore (2006):  McFadden hurled the ball in 53 innings during the 2006 season finishing with 6.62 ERA, which was third best on the team.  His 42 strikeouts was third most while his opposing batting average was tops at .294.  McFadden allowed 63 hits, which was the least by any Aggie pitcher.  In his first appearance against Utah (2/5) McFadden struck out three batters in 1.2 innings.  He would pick up his only save of the season at New Mexico (2/21) as he struck out two batters and gave up only one run.  McFadden would put together 3.1good innings at New Mexico (3/7) again as he sat down four batters and gave up just one run.  He got his first win of the season in his third start (4/14) where he flung the ball for 6.1 innings striking out four batters while giving up only three runs in a 13-4 win against North Florida.  McFadden got his second win against Louisiana Tech (4/29). He struck out the leadoff hitter, forced a fly out to right field and sat the final hitter of the game down on three straight pitchers to secure his second win of the season improving his overall record to 2-5.  He would pile up four more strike outs four more appearances on the mound.

 

Freshman (2005): In his first year playing college baseball, McFadden was solid for the Aggies from the mound as he recorded the third lowest ERA on the team with a 5.47 in 24.2 innings pitched.  He finished the year with a 2-1 record while also getting the save on two occasions and struck out 20 batters on the year.  Kyle also gave up the third fewest walks on the team (16) and recorded the third lowest opposing batting average (.280).  His three home runs surrendered and 15 earned runs given up were both good enough for the third lowest on the team while he gave up no triples in 100 batters faced.  Against Big 12 member Kansas, Kyle recorded a career-high seven strikeouts in 4.1 innings pitched as the Aggies lost a close 12-11 game.  He blanked at least one batter in 9-of-13 appearances last season while allowing no earned runs on eight different occasions.

 

High School:   McFadden graduated from Highlands Ranch High School and played baseball for the Falcons.  He was a prep teammate of Aggie catcher Marcus Quade and also served as a team captain for the baseball team.

 

Personal:  Kyle was born in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. And is the son of Jerry and Patty McFadden.  He is majoring in business
