Junior college: Wuestenfeld played baseball for Wenatchee Valley College in Wenatchee, Washington. Prior to playing for Wenatchee Valley, Wuestenfeld played for Bossier Parish Community College in Shreveport, Louisiana.

High School: Wuestenfeld graduated from Bishop Kelly High School in Boise, Idaho in 2006 where he played baseball and football. He assisted his baseball team to a third place finish in 2005 and state runners-ups in 2006. He was named all-league during his junior and senior year. He set a 9-1 record for pitching and played in the all-state game his senior year and helped his team tie for all-time wins in a single-season at Bishop Kelly. Wuestenfeld was also named second team all-conference and was the starting safety for his state champion football team in 2006.

Personal: Wuestenfeld is the son of Ken and Karen Wuestenfeld. He is a communications major.
