Biography

Junior College:  Melendez was a pitcher for El Paso Community College before coming to NMSU.

 
High School:  Melendez played baseball under his father, coach Jimmy Melendez, at Riverside High School from 2001-04.  He helped the team to at-least part of the district championship each of those years and an area championship from 2001-03.  He was named a Louisville Slugger High School All-American first-teamer in 2003, first-team All-state in 2003-04, first-team All-city from 2002-04 and district 2-4A MVP in 2003 and 2004.

 
Personal:  Melendez is the son of Jimmy and Gilda Melendez and was born in El Paso, Texas.  He is working toward a bachelor of individual studies.
