Biography

Fall 2006: Van Deelen saw the mound for 3.33 innings in the fall giving up three hits and walking only one.

 

Junior College: Van Deelen helped his team to a 43-18 finish as a sophomore, winning the league championship again. He was named to the all-Jayhawk League. Van Deelen posted a .209 ERA with 9 saves. 

As a freshman at Cowley County Community College, Van Deelen pitched in 49 innings helping the team to a 44-12 record.  His record was 6-3 with four saves, and an ERA of 1.91 with 55 strike outs..

 

High School: Van Deelen played several sports for his high school.  From 2000-03, he played football as a tight end and he also a wrestled during that time, posting a 31-9 record.  Van Deelen played baseball from 2000-03 and helped the Vikings to a 16-9 record.  He was selected to the all-league team in football and wrestling, and all-state in baseball.

 

Personal: Matt was born in Dallas, Texas and is the son of Mike and Linda Van Deelen.  He is majoring in sports management.
