Biography

Fall 2006: Fields came to plate 12 times in the fall coming up with 4 hits and a .333 batting average.  Of his four hits, two of them were doubles, and he also walked three times.

 

Junior (2006): Fields started in 34 of the 39 games he played during the 2006 season with a pefect fielding percentage and 63 put outs.  He hit 17 RBI and had a .345 on-base percentage.  Against Gonzaga (2/19) Fields went 2-of-4 with three RBI, one walk and a home run.  Fields came up big against Northern Iowa (3/4) going 4-of-3 including a double and three RBI on a day when the school record for most runs in a game was broken.  He went a perfect 5-for-5 at Brigham Young University (3/18) in a close 6-8 loss by the Aggies. Patrick Fields got NMSU’s second hit of the night in the top of the fifth at Hawai’i (4/21) with a base hit to right going 2-3 in the game.  After that, Fields would end up getting four more hits in conference play.

 

Sophomore (2005):  Fields played in 48 games for the Aggies last season, while starting in 30.  He hit .283 on the year with one home run while batting in 17 runs.  Fields also collected 43 total bases, had six doubles, scored 27 runs and accumulated an on-base percentage of .388.  On two separate occasions, Patrick scored a career-high three runs (vs. Chicago State on 2/18 & College of the Southwest 3/5) while also tallying a career-high three hits against College of the Southwest in the same game.  In the Feb. 18 game against Chicago State, Fields also recorded his first triple as he hit .292 with one RBI in two hits.  From Feb. 26 to Mar. 5, Patrick went on a six-game hit streak as he hit .500 with 10 hits, three RBI, and two doubles.  He also scored a total of six runs while stealing one base.  In the field for the season, he recorded a perfect fielding percentage (1.000) with 57 putouts and one assist.

 

Freshman (2004): Fields played in 32 games, starting 18 in the outfield and finished fifth on the team in batting average (.318). He had 12 doubles, four home runs and 18 RBI in only 66 at-bats. His .446 on-base percentage ranked second on the team and he had a perfect fielding percentage with 30 put-outs and one assist. Patrick had four multiple hit and four multiple RBI games as a freshman. He also had a nine-game hit streak and a .591 slugging percentage. He recorded a season-high six RBI and five total bases against New Orleans (4/18). He tied a team high with four walks in a 2-1 win at Western Kentucky (5/7). In the series opener with Iona College (3/5), Fields came off the bench and hit his first collegiate home run, driving in three runs. Against Pace University (3/14), he went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Against New Orleans (4/18), Fields went 2-for-3 with a home run and six RBI. In the series opener with Florida International (4/30), Patrick went 2-for-5 with two doubles and a season-high six RBI.

 

High School: Fields played high school baseball at Bishop McGuinness High School where he helped the Fighting Irish become three-time state finalists and state champions in 2002.

 

Personal: Patrick was born in Oklahoma City, Okla. and is the son of Dennis Fields. He is undecided on his major.
