Junior (2014): Mansfield played in nine games, as a junior for NM State in 2014. All of his appearances came as a relief pitcher for the Aggies. Mansfield had a total of 12.1 innings pitched in the season with an ERA of 8.76. Mansfield had only five total walks on the season and 13 strikeouts. In a game against Chicago State (May 15), Mansfield pitched a season high four innings with four strikeouts.
Prior to NM State: Mansfield pitched for two seasons (2012-13) at Luna Community College located in Las Vegas, N.M. During his final season with the Rough Riders, Mansfield finished with six strikeouts and a 7.84 ERA in 10.1 innings pitched.
Mansfield also played summer ball in 2013, pitching for the Clarinda (Iowa) A’s. He finished the summer with a 4-2 record in over 30 innings pitched while striking out 26 batters and finishing with a 3.16 ERA. Mansfield helped the A’s to a MINK league championship and a fourth-place finish at the NBC World Series.
High School: Mansfield is a New Mexico native and played three years of baseball at Belen High School located in Belen, N.M. He graduated in 2011. The Eagles were district champs during Mansfield’s sophomore and senior years. Mansfield pitched while also playing outfield for Belen. He was an all-district first teamer as both a pitcher and outfielder in 2009 and 2010. His senior year he finished with a 6-3 record, a 2.60 ERA and 51 strikeouts on the mound while hitting .346 with 28 hits, 29 RBIs and 29 runs scored at the plate. At the conclusion of the season he was honored as a 2011 All-Metro second team pitcher and All-Metro honorable mention outfielder.
Personal: Mansfield is the son of Clay and Carmen Mansfield and was born in Albuquerque, N.M. He is majoring in criminal justice while at NM State.
