Junior (2008): Stout played in 54 games and started in 52 as a middle infielder for NM State in 2008 and earned second team All-WAC honors for his accomplishments as a junior. After leading the Western Athletic Conference in steals in 2007, he came back and tied for the most stolen bases in 2008 with 20. Only Louisiana Tech’s Nick Grundelwald had as many steals as Stout. His 46 career-steals heading into his senior season ranks him seventh on the career-steals list for NM State. He had a 14-game hitting streak that was second-longest streak for the Aggies in 2008, while he finished the season with an eight game hitting streak. Stout led in sacrifice bunts (5), sacrifice flies (5) and stolen bases (20), while he was second in runs scored (63), tied for first in triples (2), third in doubles (15), third in on-base percentage (.451) and tied for second in walks (39). Defensively, Stout could have been considered a stronghold in the middle infield finishing the season with 96 putouts, and 151 assists, which was second most on the team. In the second game of the season, Stout stole his two bases against the New Orleans (2/23) pitcher and catcher duo, while going 2-for-3 at the plate walking once and scoring three times to lead NM State to an 11-8 victory. Stout would come to the plate against Ball State (3/1) and blast his first bomb of the season over the left field wall for three RBI. He had a field day against the Cardinals that day as he went 2-for-6 with a double, a walk and two runs scored to lead the Aggies to a 24-19 come-from-behind win. On a day when 51 total runs were scored by NM State and Ball State (3/2), Stout produced big going 2-for-5 with three RBI, three walks, a stolen base and a season-high five runs scored. Those five runs scored was also a single-game high for the team in 2008. Stout helped the Aggies pick up their second-consecutive conference victory of the season as he led the way going 2-for-3 at the dish, with an RBI and two stolen bases, as NM State won 12-1 over San Jose State (3/21) in seven innings. He contributed big-time once again versus SJSU (3/22) when he was 4-of-6 in the lead-off position, while picking up two RBI to assist NM State to a 15-9 victory. Stout worked his hardest to help his team as he was 2-for-5 in an 8-5 loss to Nevada (4/5), with a run scored. Both of his hits that day were triples, which was the only time in his career he has accomplished that. Stout was 2-of-4 in a 14-4 win at Sacramento State (4/27), while he also tallied two RBI, a double and a walk. At Fresno State (5/3), he posted a 3-for-6 day with an RBI, a run scored and a double at lead-off, which helped the Aggies defeat the eventual National Champions 12-7. Although the Aggies lost the first game of a double-header in Hawai’i (5/10), Stout did everything he could to lead his squad to a victory going 3-for-3 with an RBI, two runs scored, a double, four putouts and four assists defensively. Against Louisiana Tech (5/16), he did lead his team to a 14-11 victory in the second part of a double-header marking a 3-of-6 day at the plate with two RBI, a double and a run scored, while getting one putout and four assists on the diamond.

Stout was also sixth in the WAC in on-base percentage, tied for sixth in runs scored, second in walks and led the conference in stolen bases. He also led the conference in stolen bases per game (0.50) and walks per game (0.85). Stout got his first start as an Aggie against Northern Colorado (2/3) and went 1-of-3 at the plate but scored twice as the NMSU picked up its first victory of the season.
