Biography

2004 (Senior): Rory should be one of the Aggies' top three starters this spring.

2003 (Junior): Coppinger made 13 appearances, eight of those out of the bullpen and five starts in his first year with the Aggies. In his final eight regular season appearances, Coppinger posted an earned run average of 3.62, covering 27.1 innings.

He pitched five shutout innings in a start against UT Pan American in the season finale. He allowed only four hits. He is 1-0 with a 6.91 earned run average against conference teams. He did not pitch in the SBC Tournament.

Rory was unbeaten at home in 2003, posting a 4-0 record in eight appearances which included four starts. He had an impressive 2.81 earned run average in 32 innings with opponents batting just .214 against him at Presley Askew.

He started the Aggies' second game of the season and did not earn a decision despite pitching six innings and allowing only one earned run while striking out six and walking none in NMSU's 4-3 victory over College of the SW (1/26).

Coppinger did earn a victory against LaSalle (3/15), pitching six innings and allowing no earned runs and only three hits while striking out four.

Rory made four starts in his first seven appearances and six appearances out of the bullpen in his final seven games.

He earned a win out of the bullpen against league foe Arkansas State (4/19). Rory pitched 2.2 innings and allowed only one earned run while striking out three.

Coppinger earned his fourth win of the season by pitching five innings of no run, four hit baseball in a victory over UT Pan American (5/17).

He allowed five earned runs in three innings against UNLV in the NCAA Tournament.

2001-02 (Freshman-Sophomore): Coppinger was a second team all-region pick at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and was coached by Rocky Ward?s younger brother, Roger. He posted a 6-3 record with three complete games in 12 starts and a 5.74 ERA as a sophomore. He pitched a team high 64.1 innings, striking out a team-leading 73 while walking 23. As a freshman, he posted a 7-2 record with a 2.43 ERA with 57 strikeouts in 59.2 innings pitched.

High school: Semiahmoo Secondary in White Rock, British Columbia did not sponsor baseball, but he was MVP of the 2000 Babe Ruth World Series. In 96 games in 2000, he hit .396 with 79 rbi. On the mound, he posted a 11-3 record with a 2.80 earned run average. He struck out 81 and only walked 17 in 75 innings.

Personal: Rory was born in Vancouver, British Columbia and is the son of Tom and Lovelle Coppinger. He is majoring in Management.
