Biography

Junior (2011): Reliever Scott Coffman earned 2012 Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America honors (third team) after a spectacular 2011 season that saw him tie the school record with nine saves on the year. He heads into the 2012 season second in the NM State record books with 14-career saves.  He finished the year with a 3-0 record and a 1.88 ERA, while earning first team all-WAC honors.  His All-WAC selection came after he posted outstanding numbers in league play. Coffman's 1.31 ERA with four saves, 16 strikeouts against just 15 hits in 20.2 innings were very impressive considering he didn't have much opportunity to pitch in save situations over the last three weekends of conference play. With Coffman making first team, he becomes the first Aggie pitcher to ever be named First Team All-Conference in any of the Aggies' league affiliations (WAC, Sun Belt, Big West, Missouri Valley).  Coffman ended the 2011 season with 43.0 innings of work in 25 appearances. He tallied a 1.88 ERA, 36 strikeouts and nine saves, while allowing only nine earned runs, 11 walks and 36 hits.

Sophomore:  Coffman was the top relief pitcher for the Aggies during the 2010 season. He made 28 appearances on the mound and had 36 total strikeouts. Coffman had a season-high of five strikeouts against NM State rival University of New Mexico (3/09) in Albuquerque. With a 4.76 ERA Coffman had the lowest rating for the Aggies for the 2010 season.

Freshman: Coffman made 26 appearances on the mound as a relief-specialist.  In 21.0 innings of work he tallied 29 strikeouts with his season-high of four strikeouts coming against UT-Brownsville (3/24) and Houston-Baptist.  He had at least one strikeout in 20 of his appearances and finished the season with a 2.14 ERA allowing only five earned runs all year.

High School:  Coffman pitched and played infield for Albuquerque Academy from 2004-07.  He helped the Chargers to a New Mexico Activities Association - 4A district championship in 2005, 2006 and 2007.  In 2007 Albuquerque Academy finished with a 22-5 record.  He earned 1st teams all-state, all-metro and all-district.  He was also voted his team's most valuable player, NMAA State Player of the Year in 2007 and Student-Athlete of the Year in 2007.  He finished the 2007 season with a 1.57 ERA and struck out 96 batters.

Personal:  Coffman is the son of Mike and Debbie Coffman and was born in Albuquerque, N.M.  He is majoring in Aeronautical Engineering.
