Junior (2014): Gonsalez made 18 appearances for the NM State pitching staff during the 2014 season as a reliever. In 26.1 innings pitched, Gonsalez recorded a 3.42 ERA and finished the season with six saves, which is tied for fifth in a single season since 1977. Gonsalez recorded 15 strikeouts while giving up only 13 runs and held his opponents to 29 hits.Â
Redshirt Sophomore (2013): Gonsalez returned from arm surgery in 2012 to make three appearances for NM State in 2013. He pitched a total of 2.1 innings and finished with a 7.71 ERA and one strikeout while allowing six hits and two runs.
Sophomore (2012): Gonsalez did not play due to recovery from arm surgery in 2012. He was credited with a medical redshirt.
Freshman (2011): Gonsalez made six appearances on the mound for NM State during the 2011 season and picked up four strikeouts, while allowing six earned runs and six walks. His first appearance as an Aggie came against Houston Baptist (Feb. 19) and he tallied his first strikeout as an Aggie against San Francisco (March 4) in the Lamar Tournament that was being held in Beaumont, Texas. His only two inning outing came against I.P.F.W. (March 20) as he helped the team to a 16-8 victory.
High School: Gonsalez was a first baseman and a pitcher for Carlsbad High School from 2008-10, winning the district championship each year. A three-year letterman, Gonsalez was a first team all-district infielder, a second team all-district pitcher and an all-state academic selection.
Personal: Gonsalez is the son of Ruben and Donna Gonsalez and is majoring in accounting. He was born in Carlsbad, N.M.
