Junior: During
his first year at NM State, Ross pitched in 16 total games, starting 11 of
those games. Ross finished with a 6-4
record as a starter. His 11 starts tied
him for third-most on the Aggie roster.
His six wins also placed him in a tie for third among the Aggies. Ross finished the season with 46 strikeouts
while allowing only five home runs. His
46 strikeouts placed him fourth among Aggie pitchers.
During his first outing of the year, against Houston Baptist
(Feb. 20), Ross pitched a season-high 6.2 innings while allowing only one run
and striking out four batters. Ross
followed that up his following start, against Buffalo (Feb. 27), by pitching
four innings and striking out a season-high nine batters. He then went to 3-0 after starting against San
Francisco (March 5) and pitching 5.2 innings while allowing only two earned runs
and striking out six batters.
Junior College: Before coming to NM State, Ross was a
pitcher for the San Jacinto baseball team led by head coach Tom
Arrington. In 2010, the team was conference and regional champions and
finished second at the Junior College World Series. Prior to transferring
to San Jacinto, Ross attended Wharton County Junior College from 2007-09 where
he pitched. In 2008, the team finished second in regional's under head
coach Bob Nottebart. Ross' awards include all-conference pitcher and he
participated in the Texas-New Mexico Junior College All-Star game.
High School: Ross attended James Bowie High School in
Austin, Texas, where he played baseball for the Bulldogs as an outfielder and
pitcher. In 2007, the Bulldogs earned district runner-up and reached the
regional and quarterfinals lead by head coach Rudy Alvarez. In 2006, the
team reached the bi-district playoffs.
Personal: Ross is the son of LeRoy and Carla
Ross. He is currently studying accounting here at NM State.
