Biography

2018 (Junior): WAC Tournament MVP…Went 10-for-21 with seven RBI in the WAC Tourney to help lead the Aggies to their first Tournament title in the WAC…Batted .325 with nine home runs and 53 RBI overall…Third in the WAC in runs batted in…Established a new single-season program record and led the conference in hit by pitches (21)…Slugging percentage of .517 finished seventh in the league...His 108 total bases were eighth most in the WAC…Compiled a .344 average with seven home runs in home games…Finished with 19 multi-hit games…Led the team with three four-hit games…Drove in eight runs with two home runs in the second game of the season vs Towson (2/17)…Went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI in a WAC Tournament Semifinal win against Seattle in Mesa (5/25)…19 multi-hit games…13 games with two RBI or more.

2017 (Sophomore): Second Team All-Conference in the WAC…Batted .314 with a league-high 16 home runs and 52 RBI during a breakout Sophomore season…Slugging percentage of .649 paced the the conference…Paced the WAC with the 15 hit by pitches…Finished the year tied for third in the WAC with 120 total bases…Blasted eight home runs in 24 conference games…Four multi-home run games, including two home runs in one inning during a May 7 road game at New Mexico…Drove in nine runs vs Mount Saint Mary’s February 26 and seven runs at New Mexico May 7…Named WAC Hitter of the Week twice (April and May 15).

2016 (Freshman): Batted .220 with one home and 4 RBI in his first collegiate season...appeared in 21 games with 16 starts...first collegiate start came on March 1 at No. 22 Texas (1-for-3 with a double)...first collegiate home run came one day later on March 2 at Texas Tech.  

High School: Hard hitting catcher for Brawley High School…South Eastern Conference Player of the Year…Imperial Valley League MVP…First-team All-IVL…Led his team to three IVL Championships in 2012, 2013 and 2015…Was Drafted in the Mexican League and was offered to sign as a Mexican Free Agent with the Chicago Cubs in 2015.

Personal: Born Tristen Peter Carranza on Oct. 8, 1996 in El Centro, Calif…Son of former Colorado Rockie Pedro Carranza and Mildred Sanchez…Has two brothers, Tennessee and Tanner, and two sisters, Taylor and Tamara…Majoring in Marketing with a minor in Sports Marketing.
