Junior: In his
first season with the Aggies Forney played in a total of 52 games, starting in
40 of those games, including 31 at shortstop.
Forney finished fourth on the team with a .356 batting average. He also finished third in stolen bases with
six. On the defensive side, Forney led
NM State with 114 assists and had a .908 fielding percentage.
During a four-game series against Northern Colorado (April
1-3) Forney had seven hits, including his only home run of the season, and
scored five times. The second game of
that series also began a 12-game hitting streak for Forney which didn't end
until April 22, against Nevada. During
the streak Forney had a game in which he went 3 for 3 at the plate (April 2
against Nevada) and a game in which he went 4 for 4 (April 17 against San Jose
State).
At the end of the season Forney was named to the All-WAC
second team.
Junior College: Forney played for Yavapai College in
Prescott, Ariz. from 2008-10. In 2010, he played in all 62 games for the Roughriders
helping them to a 42-20 record. While there, Forney hit .345 with six home runs
and 41 RBI.
High School: Tyler Forney graduated from Mesquite
High School in 2008. He played shortstop there from 2005-08.
Personal: Forney was born in Coral Springs, Fla. He
is the son of Jeff and Sandi Forney and is majoring in business.
