Junior (2007): Hardt played in 55 games as an outfielder for NMSU and started in 52 of those games. He was fifth on the team in batting average (.286), third in slugging percentage (.418), fifth in runs scored (34), fourth in hits (56), fourth in RBI (30), fourth in total bases (75), third in walks (26) and tied for first in triples (3). In his fourth start of the year Hardt went 3-for-3 at the plate against Utah (2/9) as NMSU won 16-5. He played great against New Mexico (2/13) when he was 3-of-4 and scored twice as the Aggies fell 11-7. The Aggies beat New Orleans (2/18) 12-5 as Hardt chipped in with three RBI and his first home run of the season. He hit his second bomb of the year against Temple (2/23) when the Aggies won 16-10. Against Utah Valley State (3/11) Hardt hit a three-run blast over the right field wall in the first inning as the Aggies won 7-5. He also hit a solo home run in the fourth inning of a 16-10 loss to Louisiana Tech (4/6). In the final game of the year, Hardt was 2-for-3, scored once and walked twice in a 9-7 loss to Dallas-Baptist (5/19).
Junior (2006): Hardt red-shirted during his junior year due to an arm injury.
Junior College: Tyler comes to NMSU after playing two years for Dixie State Junior College in Utah. In two years playing for the Rebels, he led the team in doubles, triples, RBI and hits and played in the Junior College All-Star Game and was also named a First Team Selection. In 2005 he helped lead the team to a Regional Championship after his team won the Junior College World Series in 2004. As a sophomore, Tyler was the only player to play and start in all 55 games where he hit .305 on the year while leading the team in doubles (13) and finishing second in triples (3). He also hit one home run and batted in a team-high 39 RBI while scoring 32 runs with a .422 slugging percentage. Hardt finished fourth on the team in walks (20) with an on-base percentage of .376 and stole nine bases in 12 attempts. In the field, Tyler recorded a fielding percentage of .971 with 65 putouts in 68 chances with only two errors on the season. Hardt played in 54 games and started on 49 occasions as a freshman as the Rebels finished 51-14 and won the Junior College World Series. He hit .260 in 154 at-bats with five doubles, two triples and four homers for a slugging percentage of .396. Tyler also tallied 61 total bases with 36 RBI and 24 runs scored as he stole three bases with an on-base percentage of .355. On the field he had 29 putouts in 32 chances for a fielding percentage of .906.
High School: Tyler graduated from Buena High School where he played baseball for the Colts. He hit .460 his junior year and .483 his senior season and was a First Team Selection both years while playing in the Arizona All-Star Game. His team also made the state playoffs in all four years that he played.
Personal: Tyler was born in Silver City, N.M. and is the son of Ivan and Shannon Hardt. He is majoring in business management.
