Sophomore (2011):
Mack made 15 appearances and stared in 11 games with 61.1 innings of work
during his sophomore season. He finished the year with 52 strikeouts and
allowed 66 earned runs and 55 walks.
Although he ended the year with a 9.68 ERA, Mack finished with a winning
record at 6-5. He pitched a season and
career-high seven innings twice during 2011, picking up wins in each of those
outings. In his first seven-inning
appearance (3/19), Mack faced I.P.F.W. and led NM State to an 11-8 victory
picking up a career-high 10 strikeouts.
His second seven-inning game was at Louisiana Tech (4/9) when the Aggies
defeated the Bulldogs 7-5 in J.C. Love Field.
That day he marked five strikeouts, five walks and gave up five hits,
but allowed only one run. His sixth and
final victory of the year came against Hawai'i (5/20) when he threw for six
complete innings and marked five strikeouts as he led the Aggies to an 18-8
victory. He tallied at least five strikeouts in five of his appearances in
2011.
Freshman (2010): In his first season as an Aggie,
Mack pitched in 16 games, and started in nine. He finished the year with
six wins, which was tied for the most on the team, and struck out 47 batters on
the year, tying him for fourth most strikeouts on the Aggie pitching
staff. He made his first collegiate appearance against Missouri (2/21) as
the Aggies fell 2-1 in the Tucson Classic. He worked one inning and earned one
strikeout against the Tigers out of the Big 12. His first collegiate victory
came against Saint Joseph's (3/6) when NM State came from behind taking game
one of the double-header 12-10. In that game, Mack worked for an inning
striking out two batters. He got his first college start, March 21 at
UC-Santa Barbara when he pitched a total of five innings, giving up four earned
runs and striking out two batters. The Aggies picked up a 12-5 victory that day
winning the second game of a 12-game win streak. He pitched a season-high 6 1/3
innings against San Jose State, in which he only gave up two runs. Mack
had a season-high eight strikeouts against Wofford College (3/28) as the Aggies
belted 22 runs to win 22-15.
High School: Mack played baseball at Cinco
Ranch High School in Katy, Texas where he earned varsity letters from
2006-09. He also played wide receiver in football there where he led his
2009 team to a district championship. In baseball he was selected to the
second team all-district team as a pitcher in 2007 and 2008 while his teammates
voted him team MVP in 2008. He finished that season with a .320 batting
average, 15 doubles, a 5-2 record on the mound, an ERA of 3.30 and one
no-hitter. In football, 2008 also saw Mack set the school record for
receptions (39), yards (649) and touchdowns (12) while earned the Cougar Heart
Award.
Personal: Mack is the son of Timothy and
Donella Mack. He was born in Houston, Texas and is majoring in Criminal
Justice.
