Biography

2013 (Junior): Shapiro played in 12 games as a wide receiver and kick returner, averaging six yards a rush and 12.3 yards a catch. He led the team with 532 yards on 26 returns.  Shapiro recorded two rushing touchdowns and two receiving touchdowns on the year.  His 35 catches for 331 yards and two touchdowns on the season ranked third on the team.  Shapiro also led the Aggies with 975 all-purpose yards on the year.  He had a season-high five kick returns for a season-high 122 yards against No. 15 Texas (Aug. 31).  Shapiro recorded a season-high five catches for 72 yards, with a long of 46 yards against I-25 rival New Mexico (Oct. 5).  Shapiro recorded his first career touchdown reception against No. 13 UCLA (Sept. 21) and his first career-rushing touchdown against New Mexico.  Shapiro caught five passes for 48 yards and a touchdown while throwing for his first career touchdown of six yards against Abilene Christian (Oct. 26).  In the season finale against Idaho (Nov. 30) Shapiro recorded his second rushing touchdown of the year. He was third on the team in scoring with 24 points.
2012 (Sophomore): Shapiro played in three games for the Aggies at wide receiver.  He caught two passes for 15 yards on the season.
2011 (Freshman): Shapiro played in just two games for the Aggies in 2011 at wide receiver. He made his first career start against New Mexico (Oct. 1) and saw action against Hawai’i (Oct. 22).
High School: Shapiro was a standout wide receiver for the Rio Rancho Rams. As a senior, Shapiro broke the state record with 93 receptions on the season, tallying 1,672 yards, while catching 14 touchdowns. He scored 84 points on the season, averaging 7.6 points per game. Shapiro was named a first team all-state, all-district and all-metro selection. He was also selected to play in the North/South All-Star game. As junior, Shapiro caught 17 passes for 350 yards and a touchdown reception.
Personal: Shapiro is the son of Philip and Connie Shapiro. He plans to major in business management.
