2009 (FRESHMAN): Miks played in 21 sets for NM State, mainly in the back row. As a reserve-player, Miks tallied 16 digs and 37 service receptions without a single receiving error. She picked up a season-high nine digs at Idaho (10/29) while her only two assists on the year came that same night. Miks also tallied digs against Boise State, Louisiana Tech, Fresno State and Utah State.
HIGH SCHOOL: Miks graduated from Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo., and was an outside hitter and co-captain for the Rebels. A four-year letter winner, she led her team to back-to-back state tournament appearances, finishing third in 2007 and seventh in 2008. Her teams captured two league titles, one district championship and two regional runner-up finishes. She was named All-Colorado, first team all-state, first team all-conference, and academic all-state as a senior. Miks was also named to the Cherry Creek Bruins Classic All-Tournament Team, CHSAA High School Hero of the Week, Fox Sports Network most valuable player of the month, John Lynch Student Athlete of the Month, Wendy's Heisman Award and MVP for Columbine. The Colorado Coaches Association selected her to represent Jefferson County in the 5A All-State Games. As a junior, she earned honorable mention all-state, second team all-conference and academic all-state. A multi-sport athlete, Miks also earned two letters and academic all-state honors in basketball. Miks played for the Colorado Juniors volleyball club for five years and served as the team captain each year. Her teams made four appearances to the USA Junior Olympic Championships, twice in the open division. They won four regional championships, and Miks was named regional all-star four times. She was also named the USAV Junior Olympic Invitational MVP in 2006. In 2009, her team concluded the season ranked 21st in the nation by Prepvolleyball.com (18's), and she was named to the Defensive Dandies second team. She received academic honors throughout high school and graduated with a 3.8 grade point average.
PERSONAL: Miks is the daughter of Mike and Kathy Miks and was born in North Ogden, Utah. She plans to major in engineering while at NM State.
