2013 (Redshirt Junior):  Joyner moved to tight end from line backer in 2013. Joyner had one reception for two yards against San Diego State (Sept. 28).  Joyner also played on special teams.
2012 (Redshirt Sophomore): Joyner played in 10 games for NM State on special teams and at linebacker, starting one game for the Aggies.  On the season, Joyner recorded 29 tackles and one forced fumble.  In his first career start Joyner set a career high in tackles with 12 against New Mexico (Sept. 22).  Joyner also recorded a forced fumble against Utah State (Oct. 20). Joyner was named Academic All-WAC for fall 2012.
2011 (Sophomore): Joyner played in one game for the Aggies against Ohio (Sept. 3) in 2011 before suffering an injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the season.
2010 (Freshman): Joyner played in four games for the Aggies in 2010 at linebacker and on special teams. On the season, Joyner tallied six tackles, including a career-high three tackles against Louisiana Tech (Nov. 13). He would record at least one tackle in every game he played in 2010.
High School: Joyner played linebacker and on special teams for the Point Loma High School Pointers. In 2009, Joyner tallied 110 tackles, averaging 8.5 tackles a game his senior season. He also recorded 12 sacks, six fumble recoveries and one interception as he helped his team to a 9-4 record overall. Joyner was named first team All-CIF as a linebacker, as well as the league defensive player of the year. He was also voted by his teammates as the ‘Iron Jock’ award recipient. As a junior, Joyner recorded 84 tackles, averaging 7.6 a game. He grabbed two sacks, an interception, a pass break-up and a fumble recovery, as the Pointers went 6-5-1 on the season. He was voted a first team all-league selection as a junior and the Pointers’ Special Teams Player of the Year.
Personal: Joyner is the son of James and Jacquline Joyner. He plans to major in general business.
